The bench story,part 1

It all started a few months ago.Early January i received an email from my,food lover/pretty good tennis player/Feist fan friend Jen. She was forwarding me some info about the organization Art Reach. They were actively looking for 16 artists to get involved in this new project which would consist in painting a garden bench that would be sold in a silent auction during the Art Walk festival at the end of April in Little Italy. All the proceeds would benefit Art Reach and help them developing new art program for kids in schools.
Jen was simply and casually asking me to consider adapting one of my designs on a bench!!! As I finish reading it i felt my head going backwards, my eyebrows drifting upward and my sealed lips moving forward in a total shock/surprised/taken off guard type of expression!!! I immediately thought" there is no way on earth i could do this!!"

The bench story,suite.

I did feel flattered though....and i kept thinking about it trying somehow to find the smallest ray of hope that may be it wasn't such a crazy idea that Jen came up with after all, but in the end i remained persuaded that this was simply out of my range and my comfort zone!

Jen is working on it!

But Jen didn't give up. She then sent me the picture below adding that she was a very good painter and that she would be more than willing to help me out. Off course the visualization of what it could actually look like flattered my ego a bit and made me reconsider the whole thing. I thought about it back and forth for a couple days and finally made up my mind. After i confirmed with Jen that i would not be able to achieve this without her help and as she fully agreed to collaborate under the only condition that we had to have fun, i sent the proposal/sketch of the design chosen by jen "Cell Detail".
Less than a week later i was informed by Art Reach that if i was still interested i was more than welcome to drive by their office downtown to pick up a bench. The adventure was about to begin! From now on I could only go forward ....
